Grades 1-4: Creative dance month.

Performing Arts is a three dimensional class, including Music, Drama and Dance.
This month I will dedicate a lot of time with Grades 1 - 4 introducing the "Creative Dance" to our PA students.
Creative dance is very important - especially for the young ones because - if introduced at an early age -can create an environment that gives space to use the body as a healthy and expressive communication tool by involving the child physically, emotionally and intellectually.
By following the steps of a choreography, the young dancers develop  gradually strong confidence, a positive presence and a creative way to reduce stress.

Right now, we are working on some choreographies and we will present them to you during our double assembly on March 21st 14:10 at the auditorium.

From a director's point of view: Watching a film as a professional!

As "Edutopia"  mentions in a relative article, watching a film in class can go from a passive experience to an active, curious exploration of big life themes and various academic disciplines.

In Drama class, watching a movie from the prospective of a director, a playwright, a cameraman etc. is essential.

In this way, students comprehend the making of a story, the character development and the inside approach of a movie.

During the following month Grade 5 and 6 will spent some time during the Drama class watching and discussing the movie: "Like Stars On Earth"  an Oscar awarded film (India, 2008)  a trailer can be found here below:

Some of the subjects we are going to discuss during the chapter:
- What is the setting of the movie?
- What is the main plot?
- Who are the protagonists? (Character development)
- Who are the antagonists? Are they characters or events?
- How the costumes affect the emotions of the audience?
 - If you were directing, would you approach the story differently? How?
- Observe how the characters respond to emotions, even without lines.
- Body language and acting.
